Wednesday, May 4 -8:30 am-Meet at Allen Bill Meet Place , Hwy. 66: Suplur Springs/Riverview Loop (AL/MOD)-Hwy 66, Elbow Falls Trail, Kananaskis

 

Wednesday, May 18 - 8:00 am-Meet at Petro Can/ Humpty's, Hwy 1/22 intersection-:Yamnuska (AL/MOD)-Hwy. 1A

Distance: 8 km + 500 meters elevation gain: 4 hours hiking time

Saturday, April 30 - 9:00 am - Meet at Allen Bill Meet Place, Hwy. 66: Prairie Creek ( AL ) – Hwy 66, Elbow Falls Kananaskis  

Distance: 12 km + 420 m elevation gain: 5 hours hiking. Description: A great early season hike that gets your legs ready for summer alpine outings. Our route follows the bubbling Prairie Creek on a rolling trail that takes in some nice viewpoints of mountain peaks combined with wide open meadows and treed climbs.  

 

Saturday, May 14 -8:30 am-Meet at Petro Can/ Humpty's, Hwy 1/22 intersection-  Prairie View Fire Lookout (MOD) - Hwy 40, Kananaskis

Distance: 12 km + 500 m elevation gain: 5 hours hiking time. Description: A single-track trail climbs through the trees to a fantastic viewpoint. An optional climb to the fire lookout rewards you with panoramic views. The descent follows the fire road through the tress back to Barrier Dam.

 

Meet time change: Saturday, June 4 -9:00 am-Meet at Allen Bill Meet Place , Hwy. 66: Jumpingpound Summit  or Nihahi Ridge (MOD)– Powderface Road , Kananaskis

Distance: 12 km + 500 m elevation gain: 4-5 hours hiking. Description: A quick ascent up the Summit trail takes us to Jumpingpound Summit and outstanding views of the foothills, prairies and surrounding peaks.  

 

Saturday, June 18 - 8:00 am - Meet at Anderson LRT: Bull Creek Hills & Black Diamond Café (AL/MOD) – Highwood Trail (Hwy. 541), Kananaskis

Distance: 10 km + 400 meters elevation gain: 4 hours hiking Description: The Bull Creek Hills is in the southern part of Kananaskis, not far from Longview . You’ll hike along grassy slopes, past limber pines and spring flowers to a vast panorama of prairie and peaks.

 

Intermediate Hikes

 

Wednesday, June 15 – 8:00 am-  Meet at Allen Bill Meet Place , Hwy. 66: Moose Mountain- Highway 66, Bragg Creek, Kananaskis

Distance: 15 km + 570 - 670 metres elevation gain: Final 100 metres optional - views attained prior to this assent. Description: This fire lookout hike starts out on a wide forested trail. The summit offers an unequaled view looking 120 km in all directions.

Friday, June 24 - Sunday, June 26: Canmore & Kananaskis Summer Wildflower Getaway: Join us for wilderness hikes in Alberta 's Rocky Mountains at the start of the summer and get your hiking legs ready for more great hikes to come! We'll follow-up a great day of fresh-air, physical activity and scenery with a stay in Canmore, a fun mountain town where you can relax, grab a drink at a local cafe or pub, or perhaps indulge in a massage! Includes: Organized group departure and carpool from Calgary on the first day, Group Hikes with Club Fit Frog or on your own or independent hikes, Group meal organization (i.e. time of meals and reservation for the group, not the costs), when requested and possible, roommate suggestions.

Canmore , AB : The group will be based in the town of Canmore , AB where there there are many hotels and B&B's to choose from. Pick your accommodation close to downtown / Railway Avenue so you can walk to dinner and to the shops after the hike. For suggestions please contact Fit Frog!
