This will give you an idea of a custom hike that Fit Frog Adventures can organize for your group. The sample hikes below are for a spring, summer or fall hike. Snowshoe outings in the Kananaskis Rockies can be arranged in the winter. All three of the hikes below start at the same trailhead. It is also easy to have the hikes start from different trailheads. In this case, your group would meet at the ranch or lodge at the end of their respective treks to discuss the days events.  Mountain wildflower-filled meadows,  lakes and ridge-tops; you let us know what type of scenery you'd like and we'll plan the day for your group.

Sample Hike & Barbecue

In this sample,  three hikes on Mount Laurie (Yamanuska) are offered so people can choose an outing that they will enjoy. All three of the hikes below start at the same trailhead. It is also easy to have the hikes start from different trailheads. In this case, your group would meet at the ranch or lodge at the end of their respective treks to discuss the days events. The barbecue is optional.

The Hike: Mount Laurie (Yamanuska) - a one hour drive from Calgary
Optional Barbecue:
At a Ranch in the Kananaskis
A 6 oz. Sirloin Steak & BBQ Salmon, three seasonal salads, ranch baked beans, seasonal vegetables, baked potato (with all the fixens), garlic toast or fresh rolls & butter, fresh fruit tray, hot apple-cranberry crisp with ice cream, fresh ground coffee or tea.

BEGINNER HIKE
The beaten path to turn-around point

5 KM + 200 METRES ELEVATION GAIN
(1-2 hours of hiking at a leisurely pace)

The Beginner group will hike along the beaten path through the forest to a pre-selected turn-around point. This is a perfect option for those who want to get some fresh air, learn about the flora and fauna and get some fresh air in their lungs before heading back to the Ranch for a relaxing afternoon.

FOOTWEAR: Running shoes or low-cut trail shoes.

MODERATE HIKE
The beaten path to ridge-top viewpoint

7 KM + 436 METERS ELEVATION GAIN (4 hours of hiking at a leisurely pace)

The Moderate group will hike along the beaten path to a wonderful viewpoint. For those who do not hike much but do have a basic level of fitness this will be perfect. At the end of the beaten path we will stop for lunch and great views. We can explore the immediate area and then backtrack down the beaten path.

FOOTWEAR: Low-cut trail (approach) shoes or hiking boots with ankle support.

INTERMEDIATE HIKE
The beaten path to ridge-top viewpoint and scree slopes to the west.

12 km + 600 METERS ELEVATION GAIN with scree slopes.  (6 hours hiking)

The intermediate group can continue from where the beginner group ended. We will hike along the base of Yamanuska ridge with rock climbers above and scree slopes below. For the sure-footed this is a great route but for those who don't like any exposure it can be a bit intimidating. Great views of the prairies and the western ranges are constant as we walk this route. Then comes a scree slope, which makes the descent a lot of fun. If you have never been on scree this will be quite exhilarating.

FOOTWEAR: Hiking boots with ankle support are recommended.

Please contact us if you have any questions about how we can customize an outing to suit your group.
