In 2025 Lori published a much expanded 3rd edition of her hugely successful compendium of Calgary’s Best Walks. She is also the author of Calgary’s Best Bike Rides. \nKevin Allen:  Author of Our Past Matters: Stories of Gay Calgary; The book is part of a larger project that has achieved national recognition and led to a series of award-winning documentary films\, maps\, essays\, walking tours. \nCharles Agopsowicz: A graphic designer\, illustrator and comic/zine creator. Walking is inherently slow and because of this\, it is the best way to see behind the scenes of a place\, to meet people and get their stories. And it turns out that feeling connected to people and place makes us happier. \nCalgary’s river valley topography is celebrated on this walk that begins in Britannia with stunning views before we descend through saskatoon slopes to the river valley. Connector paths and hidden stairways lead us past homes\, stunning gardens\, into the urban wilds\, and along the river pathway. \nLori’s books including her NEW BOOK\, Calgary’s Best Walks 3rd edition\, with 95 walks including 50 NEW WALKS\, will be for sale at the walk! \n\n\n\nWhere and when:\nSunday\, July 27 at 9:30 am. Meet in Britannia\, on Britannia Dr. at 49 Ave.\, SW. Walking is inherently slow and because of this\, it is the best way to see behind the scenes of a place\, to meet people and get their stories. And it turns out that feeling connected to people and place makes us happier. \nConnecting five communities\, this route sheds light on the kind of diversity Calgary can pack into a 5-km radius. We’ll start in Roxboro and climb through Roxboro Natural Park to stunning views. Up and over McLeod Trail\, we’ll walk through Reader Rock Garden before connecting to Ramsay where variety is the spice of life. Big views from Scotsman’s Hill before we’ll flow with the Elbow River into Mission. \n  \n\nWhere and when:\nMonday\, July 28 at 9:30 am. Meet in Roxboro\, at the corner of 30 Avenue and Roxboro Glen Road\, SW.
