No matter how far you go you’ll enjoy panoramic views\, with some off-trail hiking up to Pocaterra Ridge. \nMeet Place:\nShell Station\, across from COP \nDirections:\nWe will drop cars at Little Highwood Pass and then carpool to Highwood Pass parking lot\, Hwy 40\, Kananaskis (trailhead for Pocaterra Ridge and Ptarmigan Cirque trails) \nDistance/Length:\nRated (MOD with INT option)\, 10 km + 400 metres (up to 800 metres if doing the summit option) \nCarpool Option:\nWhen possible\, carpooling will be arranged from the meet place.

DESCRIPTION:Description:\nThis Parks Canada Trail is well maintained and allows for beautiful views of many gorgeous peaks and Egypt Lake. The start of the trail keeps you shaded from the summer sun as you gradually climb. The hike starts with a wide\, rolling trail that narrows as you go. The lush forest and the bridge over Healy Creek are stunning\, submerging you in the idyllic natural universe of the Canadian Rockies. We’ll take Simpson pass through meadows\, and past lakes before entering the golden larch-filled alpine meadows that lead to Healy Pass. Views of lakes and waterfalls and peak upon peak are your reward. \nMeet Place:\nSunshine Ski Hill Parking Lot\, Banff National Park (drive all the way to the Sunshine ski hill parking lots and the lodges\, at the end of the road) \nDirections:\nHwy 1 (Trans Canada) west to Sunshine Ski Hill (just west of the town of Banff) \nDistance/Length:\nRated MOD/INT: 20 km + 700 metres elevation gain. 6+ hours hiking \nCarpool Option:\nWhen possible\, carpooling will be arranged from the Shell station in Calgary. It is not guaranteed but may be an option.
