SUMMARY:Healy & Simpson's Pass Larch\, Banff National Park
DESCRIPTION:Description:\nThis Parks Canada Trail is well maintained and allows for beautiful views of many gorgeous peaks and Egypt Lake. The start of the trail keeps you shaded from the summer sun as you gradually climb. The hike starts with a wide\, rolling trail that narrows as you go. The lush forest and the bridge over Healy Creek are stunning\, submerging you in the idyllic natural universe of the Canadian Rockies. We’ll take Simpson pass through meadows\, and past lakes before entering the golden larch-filled alpine meadows that lead to Healy Pass. Views of lakes and waterfalls and peak upon peak are your reward. \nMeet Place:\nMeet at the Shell Station on Bowfort Road at 7 am (see map below) \nYou could also meet us at the Sunshine Ski Hill parking lot at 8:20 am which is also the Healy Pass trailhead. Carpooling from Calgary might be possible so let me know if interested. \nDirections:\nPlease see the map below for directions to the Sunshine Ski Hill\, just west of Banff Townsite. \nDistance/Length:\nRated MOD/INT: 20 km + 700 metres elevation gain. 6+ hours hiking \nCarpool Option:\nWhen possible\, carpooling will be arranged from our meet place. It is not guaranteed but it may be an option.

DESCRIPTION:Description:\n\nThis hike has it all\, starting in the forest before traversing a beautiful grassy meadow and then gaining elevation in the alpine as you climb to the ridge. The views are spectacular throughout the hike. \n\nMeet Place:\nAllen Bill trailhead\, Elbow Falls Trail (Hwy 66) Kananaskis \nDirections:\nThis trailhead is about a 45-55 minute drive from Calgary. \n\nAccess Hwy. 66 from Hwy. 22 (Hwy. 22 becomes Hwy. 66) or from Hwy. 8 (Glenmore Trail West).\nFollow Hwy. 66 into Kananaskis Country\nGo past the Information Centre and watch for the “Allen Bill” sign.\nThe sign and parking are just past the Elbow River Crossing at the bottom of a long\, gradual hill.\n\nDistance/Length:\nRated (MOD)\, 10 km + 450 up to 600 meters (extra 150 optional) elevation gain: 4-5 hours hiking time \nCarpool Option:\nWhen possible\, carpooling will be arranged from the meeting place.

DESCRIPTION:Description:\nThis trail goes by secluded Jewell Falls and has beautiful views of Barrier Lake. We’ll climb to the top of Yates Mountain where a fire lookout is perched\, and have lunch before looping back on the Prairie View Trail. \nRegistration & Fees:\nWant to join us? Scroll down to the bottom for registration and fee options. \nMeet Place:\nKananaskis Visitor Centre\, HWY. 40 \nTrailhead Directions:\nBarrier Dam Trailhead: Follow Hwy 1 west to Hwy 40. Take Hwy 40 to the Barrier Dam Parking lot (just past the Kananaskis Visitor Centre and before the Kananaskis Village and Nakiska Ski Hill turn off). \nDistance/Length:\nRated (MOD/INT)\, 12 km + 600 meters elevation gain: 5-6 hours hiking. There is an option for some people to stop after about 500 metres of elevation gain and enjoy the views. \nCarpool Option:\nWhen possible\, carpooling will be arranged from Calgary. It is not guaranteed but it may be an option.
