DESCRIPTION:Description:\nThis scenic trail takes you to breathtaking views of the front ranges. Mount Lipsett trail is a moderately challenging summit hike near Highwood Pass with remarkable views of the surrounding mountain landscape. It’s a great hike to experience classic Highwood region ecology which changes as you gain elevation. In the fall\, golden hues blanket from larches\, shrubs and aspens blanket the slopes. In the Spring and summer\, forests of bog orchids and red paintbrush at lower elevations give way to flowery alpine meadows closer to the summit. \nDistance/Length:\nRated (MOD/INT)\, 14 km + 700* meters elevation gain: 5-6 hours hiking time\n*Option to climb more or less \nMeet Place:\nPetro Can Station\, 37 Street just north of Glenmore Trail (see map below) \nDirections:\nWe travel south to Longview and then west on Hwy 541 (which becomes Hwy 40) into the Kananaskis.  Park at the official pull off (no bathroom) 6.9 km south of Mount Lipsett day-use area/ 4.5 km north of Mist Creek day-use area.\nGoogle Map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZTjmdiLMxXjv9pET7 \nCarpool Option:\nWhen possible\, carpooling will be arranged from the meet place.

DESCRIPTION:Description:\n\nThis hike has it all\, starting in the forest before traversing a beautiful grassy meadow and then gaining elevation in the alpine as you climb to the ridge. The views are spectacular throughout the hike. \n\nMeet Place:\nAllen Bill trailhead\, Elbow Falls Trail (Hwy 66) Kananaskis \nDirections:\nThis trailhead is about a 45-55 minute drive from Calgary. \n\nAccess Hwy. 66 from Hwy. 22 (Hwy. 22 becomes Hwy. 66) or from Hwy. 8 (Glenmore Trail West).\nFollow Hwy. 66 into Kananaskis Country\nGo past the Information Centre and watch for the “Allen Bill” sign.\nThe sign and parking are just past the Elbow River Crossing at the bottom of a long\, gradual hill.\n\nDistance/Length:\nRated (MOD)\, 10 km + 450 up to 600 meters (extra 150 optional) elevation gain: 4-5 hours hiking time \nCarpool Option:\nWhen possible\, carpooling will be arranged from the meeting place.

DESCRIPTION:Description:\nThe trail to Lillian Lake and the Galatea Lakes follows a forested trail alongside Galatea Creek\, crisscrossing bridges until Lillian Lake comes into view. The 1 km climb to Galatea Lake is steep and follows rocky slopes before descending to Galatea Lake. \nNOTE: Assuming the weather is good (not raining) there is an option for some people to stop and stay at Lillian Lake while others climb to Galatea Lake. This extra 1 km climb adds about 1 hour of hiking round trip and those who do it will have lunch at Galatea. I recommend bringing a book or whatever hobby you enjoy if you’d like the option to stop at Lillian Lake. Some people sketch\, some read\, some snooze! \nRegistration & Fees:\nWant to join us? Scroll down to the bottom for registration and fee options. \nMeet Place:\nSEE MAP below: Shell Station\, Hwy 1 at Bowfort Road (across Hwy 1 from WinSport) \nDirections:\nIt is about a 1 hour and 15 minute drive from Calgary to the Galatea trailhead on Hwy. 40. Take Hwy 1 (Trans Canada) west to Hwy 40. Continue along Hwy 40 to the Galatea trailhead\, just past the Village of Kananaskis. \nDistance/Length:\nRated MOD/INT to Lillian Lake and INT to Galatea Lake and Guinn’s Pass:  Lillian Lake is 12.5 km + 475 metres round trip; Galatea Lake is 17 km +675 metres elevation gain round trip ( 6+ hiking hours including lunch stop to Galatea Lake and 7 + hours to Guinn’s Pass) \nCarpool Option:\nWhen possible\, carpooling will be arranged from Calgary. It is not guaranteed but it may be an option.
