DESCRIPTION:Description:\nThis trail goes by secluded Jewell Falls and has beautiful views of Barrier Lake. We’ll climb to the top of Yates Mountain where a fire lookout is perched\, and have lunch before looping back on the Prairie View Trail. \nMeet Place:\nShell Station across from COP \nDirections:\nWe’ll meet in Calgary and carpool or you can meet us at the trailhead.\, or you can meet at the Barrier Dam Trailhead at 9 am: Follow Hwy 1 west to Hwy 40. Take Hwy 40 to the Barrier Dam Parking lot (just past the Kananaskis Visitor Centre and before the Kananaskis Village and Nakiska Ski Hill turn off). Here is teh Google Map link to the Barrier Lake Trailhead \nDistance/Length:\nRated (MOD/INT)\, 12 km + 600 meters elevation gain: 5-6 hours hiking. There is an option for some people to stop after about 500 metres of elevation gain and enjoy the views. \nCarpool Option:\nWhen possible\, carpooling will be arranged from the Shell Station. It is not guaranteed but may be an option.

The start of the trail keeps you shaded from the summer sun as you gradually climb. The hike starts with a wide\, rolling trail that narrows as you go. The lush forest and the bridge over Healy Creek are stunning\, submerging you in the idyllic natural universe of the Canadian Rockies. We’ll take Simpson pass through meadows\, and past lakes before entering the golden larch-filled alpine meadows that lead to Healy Pass. Views of lakes and waterfalls and peak upon peak are your reward. \nMeet Place:\nSunshine Ski Hill Parking Lot\, Banff National Park (drive all the way to the Sunshine ski hill parking lots and the lodges\, at the end of the road) \nDirections:\nHwy 1 (Trans Canada) west to Sunshine Ski Hill (just west of the town of Banff) \nDistance/Length:\nRated MOD/INT: 20 km + 700 metres elevation gain. 6+ hours hiking \nCarpool Option:\nWhen possible\, carpooling will be arranged from the Shell station in Calgary. DESCRIPTION:Description:\nTreat yourself to a 3-day hiking getaway! We’ll carpool from Calgary bright and early on day 1 to our first larch hike at Healy Pass in Banff National Park. This Parks Canada Trail is well maintained and allows for beautiful views of many gorgeous peaks and Egypt Lake.  The hike starts with a wide\, rolling trail that narrows as you go. The lush forest and the bridge over Healy Creek are stunning\, submerging you in the idyllic natural universe of the Canadian Rockies. We’ll take Simpson pass through meadows\, past lakes before entering the golden larch-filled alpine meadows that lead to Healy Pass. Views of lakes and waterfalls and peak upon peak are your reward. Post-hike\, we continue west to Field BC in Yoho National Park. DESCRIPTION:Description:\nA meandering trail leads to a waterfall\, unique rock outcrops\, rugged cliff bands\, and an open alpine valley. A steep rocky slope leads to Buller Pass where spectacular views of Ribbon Lake and Mount Assiniboine are achieved. \nMeet Place:\nShell at COP \nDirections:\nMeet at the Shell station at COP. \nDistance/Length:\nRated (MOD/INT)\, 12 km + 400 or 600 meters elevation gain: 5-6 hours hiking. There is an option for some people to stop after about 400 metres of elevation gain and enjoy the wide-open valley while others hike to the pass. \nCarpool Option:\nWhen possible\, carpooling will be arranged from the Shell station in Calgary. It is not guaranteed but may be an option. \n

DESCRIPTION:Description:\nThis is a spectacular\, CHALLENGING scramble/hike & ridge walk that offers the hiker panoramic views of the Spray Lakes Valley and Banff National Park. You’ll be able to see Mount Assiniboine on a clear day. YOU MUST BE COMFORTABLE with rocky terrain\, exposure\, using your hands to climb and balance at times\, and steep descents. If you have a fear of heights you should not come on this hike as the route is alongside steep drop-offs and steep slopes throughout the day. \nMeet Place:\nShell Gas Station\, across from COP OR meet at Chester Lake trailhead\, Spray Lakes Road\, Kananaskis at 9 am. About a 1 hour 40 minutes drive from Calgary. \nDirections:\nChester Lake Trailhead: Hwy 1 (Trans Canada) west to Hwy 40. Continue along Hwy 40 to the turnoff on Kananaskis Lake Trail followed by another turn onto the Spray Lakes Road (Smith Dorrien Hwy 762). Continue on this gravel road to Chester Lake Parking lot where will use the bathrooms before driving another 10 minutes to the start of the hike. \nDistance/Length:\nRated ADV: 13 km + 800 m elevation gain\, 5-6 hours round trip. \nCarpool Option:\nWhen possible\, carpooling will be arranged from the meeting place. It is not guaranteed but may be an option.
