DESCRIPTION:Description:\nThis Parks Canada Trail is well maintained and allows for beautiful views of many gorgeous peaks and Egypt Lake. The start of the trail keeps you shaded from the summer sun as you gradually climb. The hike starts with a wide\, rolling trail that narrows as you go. The lush forest and the bridge over Healy Creek are stunning\, submerging you in the idyllic natural universe of the Canadian Rockies. We’ll take Simpson pass through meadows\, and past lakes before entering the golden larch-filled alpine meadows that lead to Healy Pass. Views of lakes and waterfalls and peak upon peak are your reward. \nMeet Place:\nMeet at the Sunshine Ski Hill parking which is also the Healy Pass trailhead. Carpooling might be possible so let me know if interested. \nDirections:\nPlease see the map below for directions to the Sunshine Ski Hill\, just west of Banff Townsite. \nDistance/Length:\nRated MOD/INT: 20 km + 700 metres elevation gain. 6+ hours hiking \nCarpool Option:\nWhen possible\, carpooling will be arranged from our meet place. There is an option to stop at Lillian for those who do not want to climb the extra 1 km. \nMeet Place:\nGalatea trailhead\, Hwy 40\, Kananaskis \nDirections:\nIt is about a 1 hour and 15 minute drive from Calgary to the Galatea trailhead on Hwy. 40. Take Hwy 1 (Trans Canada) west to Hwy 40. Continue along Hwy 40 to the Galatea trailhead\, just past the Village of Kananaskis. \nDistance/Length:\nRated MOD/INT to Lillian Lake and INT to Galatea Lake and Guinn’s Pass:  Lillian Lake is 12.5 km + 475 metres round trip; Galatea Lake is 17 km +675 metres elevation gain round trip ( 6+ hiking hours including lunch stop to Galatea Lake and 7 + hours to Guinn’s Pass) \nCarpool Option:\nWhen possible\, carpooling will be arranged from the Shell station in Calgary. DESCRIPTION:Description:\nWe’ll follow the pathways alongside the creek meanders through multiple curves in the valley bottom. The valley where we’ll walk was forged by runoff from the last glaciation and is therefore considerably younger than the Bow and Elbow river valleys. In certain areas\, the creek has been carved through the bedrock. Outcroppings of the bedrock\, known as the Porcupine Hills Formation are exposed along the north bank. We will check see “Split Rock”\, the most famous glacial erratic in Calgary\, along the north bank.
