Author

Lori Beattie
Lori is Calgary’s urban hike queen, exploring the city on foot in search of big nature, hidden stairways, gardens, cafés, folk art, and murals. She presents to groups on the pleasure of taking a walk and is the host of CTV Morning Live Walks. Lori leads Calgarians on walks, Rocky Mountain hikes and snowshoe days with her company Fit Frog Adventures. Some might call it a walking addiction, a pedestrian passion. Lori (and her dog) would agree. Learn more about Lori here.

Jill Thomson

Jill Thomson’s artwork evokes her personal history of a small town/prairie childhood, an urban Montreal young adulthood and a settled life as artist, mother and grandmother in Alberta. Her rich colourful palette and complex compositions celebrate a creative life in cities with walking and bicycle paths, generous front porches, cafes, bookstores, gardens and green space.

Sara Tehranian

Born in Tehran, a city at the foothills of the Alborz Mountains in Iran, Sara was always fascinated with nature. After moving to Calgary to pursue her graduate studies in Engineering, the Rocky Mountains made her feel close to home. She soon started capturing Alberta’s stunning sceneries, hoping to turn the fleeting moments she experienced in nature into lasting memories. Sara lives in Calgary with her husband Majid Saeedi.

Pam Weber

Harmonious landscapes, playful buildings, whimsical wildlife and florals with personality describe the paintings by local artist Pam Weber. Her small studio is filled with colourful pots of acrylic paint; and if she is lucky one of her cats may decide to curl up on her worktable to provide comfort, distraction or be the muse of the hour. Pam’s signature style is bright and bold, a celebration of colour and subject matter.
